Firstly, there are two different weights of fabric in the packaging. The yellowish piece is much heavier than the blue it is great to have two different weights. Second, this material washes great! Third, I personally cut the blue sheet to make basic microwave pot holders (for holding hot cups of microwave water for my tea). wash and dry (tumble dry) the whole sheet, then I cut twice as much as I need for my potholder, then I fold it in half and pin (two short stitches) the two loose corners.. nice thin potholder, to hold the hot cup handle.
