We bought a set to see if our dirty cat would like them. I also wanted to see if she would climb a pole covered in sisal (jute) ropes - these are the 8ft cardboard rugs that the rugs come on so you can get them for free. I hot glued the sisal (burned all my frigging fingers) then we attached it to the wall on the first floor of our 3 story house. In less than two days, the cat figured out how to shoot a pole and explode. through the hole. She LOVES this thing. We need to add another shelf, but I think I'll order another set so we can add a few more at the same time. The best part is that it won't scratch the furniture but is stretched on a pole. She was a little embarrassed at first about the bars (maybe because they're see-through?), but now she's happily doing somersaults on them. A 30 pound dog is jealous. By the way, you should NOT use them on a cat heavier than, say, 9 pounds - they don't hold much weight. They're great for getting rid of zooms.
