What is good? - Price - Heavy construction, very strong - Large ball means strong surface friction to keep your camera stable and non-slip. - RC2 QR is built in and works fine for the most part (more on that later). - separate pan rotation, nice - double friction holds the ball, use one for quick and easy adjustments e.g. for sport shooting, or use both for dependable stability, e.g. B. in landscape or astrophotography. What's not so good? - The lock on the RC2 QR didn't open, the spring closed it - making removing or attaching the camera a two-handed operation. not so difficult but most RC2 QR locks open, allowing one-handed operation. - Fix the lock so that it really stays open after removing the camera. I took a dremel and made a cut in the metal, now it opens up like other options. - Smoothness, smoothness is not great. It feels like there's sand or something else, sand, between the ball and the friction legs. The movement is jerky and uneven, making smooth panning difficult. Not a big deal when taking photos, but not great when shooting videos. (It's a ball head, not a liquid one, so it might not bother everyone). - Sandy feel and jerky movements improve with more use. Maybe the sand ran out or the parts are settling, who knows but after a month of use, it feels better than when it was new. Nonetheless, this is still the least smooth of the 6 ball heads I use regularly. So it has some minor to moderate issues, it's good for photos, not good for videos, the blocking is easy to "fix" with a dremel or file. Where this head shines is how tightly it holds a fairly heavy camera. Holds at any angle, won't slip or shift over time - and that's great. I use it for my heavier setup and it's holding up great. A good head for the money. Not perfect, not outstanding, doesn't win beauty awards, but offers easy handling, RC2 QR and a very strong hold. That's a good value. not suitable for video A clog is easily 'fixed' with a Dremel or file. Where this head shines is how tightly it holds a fairly heavy camera.
