Review on Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Wide Angle Lens for Canon SLR Cameras - White Box (Brand New in Bulk Packaging) by Charles Barney

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L

I ordered this lens about a month ago and it only left my main camera twice when needed. I do not regret the purchase. However, I'm sorry that I've waited so long to buy it (but who wasn't when I got my hands on this gem - and it's a gem of a lens). This is a fixed lens. The lens, it's sharp - but more than that - it's just incredibly sharp, the most beautiful bokeh, and it's built like a typical Canon L. Main downside - no weather protection - would be a nice addition. At f/1.4 there's some softness - but even at 2.0 - it's still very sharp. I shoot in all conditions and light - so far I haven't had any *big* problems with CA, except at f/1.4. I've said it many times that focus is terribly fast and it's just perfect for my needs. Color and contrast are superb etc. etc. What hasn't been said about this yet? ;around) . And also? It comes with a center clamp cap (purchased/shipped from Revain.com, not B&H or any other manufacturer). Very easy to control and handle - well balanced (well balanced on all my cams). I know a lot of people complain about the weight of the lens, but - that's not a problem for me - I do everything from a few snaps (like a lot of people do) to everyday activities. I have yet to face the light L. And the price? It's a Canon L lens - don't expect it to be cheap but expect it to be excellent glass :o)
