Review on Rok Hardware Overlay 04429A 15 Adjustment by Jonathan Robertson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well but would like more settings.

Since these loops require a 3/8 inch depth and a 1/2 inch depth because the Kreg tool will fit, I added this washer to the shank of the bit , which gave me the ideal depth of 3/8 inch. I had to use the 4mm setting on the mount. I first tried 3mm on two doors and lifted the doors to see how they fit. The doors met in the middle and I had to make all the lateral adjustments on each hinge just to get a skinny 1/16 inch space. After that I used the 4mm setting on the jig and that opened it up enough that I didn't have to use the entire setting. One thing I don't like is what you see in the closet photo. It was an extra cabinet I got so I experimented with that first. I haven't found a way to close the gap you see between the hinge side of the door panel and the front frame of the cabinet. I used all the settings and this is the gap that's left. If you look at the doors from the side, you can easily see the hinge, defeating the purpose of the 'hidden' hinge. All the hinges are not the same as I have a couple of bathroom cabinets made by a local carpenter and the doors are perfectly flush with the face frame. These loops are three times more expensive than these, that's what, but in hindsight I would have spent more money on them. Live and learn I think. The wife is so happy with the doors though, as long as that's the case I definitely won't point it out to her! To be fair to The Rock, I must point out that my doors (albeit 3/4" thick) have a "slight" beveled edge on the back of the jambs and handrails, which allows the hinges to be more visible than they are would be. otherwise.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
