This is by far the best switch I have ever bought. It completely blasts the door of Netgear and other similar switches. To be honest this switch could have cost more than double what I paid for it and it would still be worth every penny spent. Let's start with the installation first. There's nothing easier than just plugging it into the wall and plugging in the ethernet cables - it just works with no issues. However, once you step into the Switch, you'll see a TON of options. It's actually a little overwhelming at first, but not in a bad way. I work full-time as a software developer, but I have basic networking experience. This product gives you the power to do almost anything you want. It will probably take me weeks to get used to all the different configuration options, but don't let that stop you - it's basically plug and play. In terms of speed, I've had no issues using Cat 7 cables and getting full 10Gb/s speeds from my servers at that speed. I also have many NUC and SFF computers with 2.5Gbps ethernet and they run at advertised speeds. Everything works simply and very well. As for the minuses, I have a very hard time finding them. If I had to name just one negative point, it's the fact that the fans can be a bit noisy at times. But I have my own server room in the house and the noise isn't loud enough to be heard through the vents behind the door. This switch also comes with TWO (2) redundant power supplies. Each of them is connected to a different UPS device in case one of them fails to maintain power after a power outage. The switch itself is of solid, quality construction. It doesn't weigh that much, so if you plan to rack mount it, you won't have any problems. They'll even provide you with some mounting brackets if you decide to go this route. If Mikrotek ever comes out with a 24 port version I will be the first to buy it. I had never heard of the company before purchasing this switch, but I can say with confidence that I will definitely be purchasing additional devices from them. You can tell they really care about the quality of their products and their engineering team did a wonderful job of packing a lot of features. If I could give this product 6 stars I would... it is one of the best investments I have ever made. done in terms of computer peripherals. I'm running a large Elasticsearch cluster and I've already noticed a significant speed increase (especially for aggregations where each server needs to send data back to the master node). Increasing the speed from 1 Gbit/s to 10 Gbit/s means a significant reduction in latency (even for small data packets of only a few tens of megabytes). What used to take 1-2 seconds now takes just milliseconds. That's all I have for now - it will take some time to go through all the features and choose the ones that suit my needs, but Mikrotek really nailed it. Park with this device.
