Review on Conté Paris Pastels Assorted Colors by Lori Aguirre

Versatile pastel pencils for painting, drawing and art supplies

These soft pastel pencils are on the chalk side. The consistency is like pressed charcoal; not creamy but rather powdery and a great addition to existing pastel sets. They're great for applying a primer and putting pastels on top of them as they won't clog the paper's teeth. They mix easily and the color scheme is very good with a good range of grays and browns as well as greens, blues, yellows and reds. I've mainly used them on sanded pastel and valor papers, but they also work well for quick sketches on lightly textured papers. They work well with softer pastels and pan pastels. They come in a clear plastic case, which I really like because you can see the colors without opening the case, which is useful when you're juggling multiple boxes of pastels and need that exact color. The bottom line is that these are versatile pastel colors that can be used individually or integrated into existing collections.
