I think the functionality of this remote is well described in other reviews. I would add that we have 8 of these in different rooms, some going straight to the TV, in some cases to the receiver and in some cases through Audio Authority's matrix router. He handles all occasions well. I was lucky that the installer gave me a copy of the software and apparently was able to get the IR updates. But if you are NOT a professional installer I have no idea how you would use it. You really need software and if your components are less than 5 years old you also need IR database updates. I don't blame the URC, how can you imagine they try to keep remote control so complicated for end users? I can't, and that's probably why they only deal with professional installers.
