Have never used this stuff, TOTAL noob with it. I have experience with lost wax casting so thought I'd give it a try! Now this stuff is AMAZING! As with lost wax casting, a fingerprint or file mark on the original MUST appear on the cast. If you are a noob like me you need this for DETAILS in your artwork. If you just want to make a simple smooth piece use some Petrobond which is very similar to this but not as fine sand. I liked the rings that come with the set, I will be buying more. Also, take a nylon mallet to assemble the rings, which are worth $5-15 each.
