Review on IOGEAR 4 Port Automatic Printer GUB431 by William Fowler

IOGEAR 4-Port USB 2.0 Automatic Printer Switch GUB431 (Black) . The automatic switch is advertised as working with Mac 10.3.9 or later (both on the box and on the website). Before purchasing, I checked their website to see if the switch would work with a Mac. I then bought a switch based on those system requirements and found that the "automatic" part doesn't work on a Mac with software below 10.5 because the software won't load. What they omit from their "requirements" is that the switch only works in "manual mode" with lower versions of Mac X (i.e. 10.3.9 to 10.4.11). I called them, they didn't help. They stated that my software was buggy (how could it be buggy when the CD says it won't boot because it's not 10.5 or later and I was using 10.4.11)? They wanted to download drivers but didn't have Mac drivers. Without drivers this "auto switch" isn't worth the money and I wouldn't buy it as it was intended to be used to connect 3 computers with different versions of Mac OS X software (all above 10.3.9) to a laser printer to join .
