Having the right drill for tapping is very important. Using a bit that is too small will make threading difficult, if not impossible. A drill that is too large will not leave enough material for a strong thread, if any. Finding a drill with the right diameter can be a challenge. I need them for driving brass nuts, so I can't tell if they will be strong when drilling steel. But they worked great drilling brass.
