Review on Carr 103991 Hoop II XP3: Sleek Pair in Black Powder Coat Finish! by Bill Maki

Drilling holes is all you need.

Installed these steps on my 2012 Silverado 2500HD which is high off the ground and difficult to get in and out of. Installation took about 90 minutes for the first, much quicker for the second. The instructions were sufficient. There is also a lot of additional equipment. To do this, you'll need to slip under the car to drill through the back of the rocker panels. The largest hole needed was 5/16" and due to the thickness of the metal I started with the smallest bit and worked my way up to 5/16". I would suggest that before you start, you go ahead and buy a good new set of good quality drill bits. The instructions called for a screw to go into the top of the bracket, but I couldn't get a drill to drill a hole so I just didn't use it and relied on two large 5/16" bolts to secure it. Once installed, it took a little trial and error to learn how to use them properly, as intuitively you tend to put the wrong foot first, which would require turning your body and inviting you to visit a chiropractor . horse if you ever did. On the LEFT side of the vehicle, first place your LEFT foot on the step, grab the steering wheel, stand up and slide into the seat. Place your RIGHT foot on the RIGHT side. foot onto the step, stand up (hopefully there's a handrail above the windshield), down into the seat. Reverse the order you exited from, making sure you put the front of your foot on the step, not your heel; It's like walking down the stairs. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes automatic. These steps are very powerful, much stronger than I expected. There is no vibration or movement in them at all. Highly recommended. The instructions say to grow the tiers, but I wouldn't do that; I expect it to make them slippery.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
