Instructions were rather vague. Turn on my 2006 Escape by dropping the glove box. Just push the sides up back and it falls out of the way. Then press on the sides of the old socket, one side at a time, and slide it out. Install the new outlet by pressing on the side and pulling it into place. First connect the wires. Works perfectly, as does the cigarette lighter.
