Works only on a smooth surface

They still slide onto the fridge and microwave. The surface must be absolutely smooth so that they can withstand any weight. I tried a 3 inch tin bucket with two potato peelers and an apple corer and they fell off. Only holds my collapsible silicone measuring cups.
