Have been using the DIR 817LW/D for about a month. We're not asking too much of him in terms of range (the room he's in and the rooms below him), and so far it's been great. Streaming higher resolution videos to phones, iPads and PCs with a 1080 screen was no problem. She loves the fact that this secondary router of ours has no external antennas, so it can sit on a table or dresser without looking completely out of place. It doesn't offer the usual tech light show (another plus point given its location) and since it has nothing to plug in it does the job I asked it to do - having connected its network via a powerline adapter between it and Home. Would I try using it in place of a larger and more powerful AC unit? no However, for the small amount I paid, this was a great replacement for the tired old (non-AC) head unit that was getting wobbly.
