I just replaced the water pump in this 13th flight. The tool worked well, I used a cam lock, a crankshaft pin (short black) and a timing belt tensioner holding pin. I now understand that wedges work too, and that's what all the usage data says. The only difference I can see is that this tool requires 3 additional bolts to remove the motor mount on the motor. It makes the pump lighter, I have the feeling. You must omit this if using wedges. You don't need to remove the crankshaft pulley to make a pump. Remove the engine mount, belt, belt tensioner, unscrew and remove the alternator, air intake, hose wiring, coolant reservoir. You have to pull on the right side axle and bracket to get to the connector and install the connecting rod (really stupid design). Pull the timing case cover once the cams and crank are locked, attach and unscrew the tensioner, you can remove the belt, replace the pump and put it back. I would still mark everything to be sure, but it comes back exactly as it came out. If cam lock does not fit, rotate 180, remove connecting rod, crank engine nearly 1, replace pin and rotate until it engages. Do not remove the crankshaft pulley if you are not making the belt. Hope this helps someone. All I heard was horror stories about this job, 2 shops told the guy straight NO, 1 guy said he did 1 and will never do another. Dealer Wanted 2. It wasn't easy, but I've made it worse and worse over the years. Just take your time, especially make sure you lock everything before removing the belt. A jack and a block of wood, plus the ability to jack up and hang the engine if necessary, make life easier. By the way, the tool is worth its price.
