I received the taillight promptly. It contained instructions and a connector for a motorcycle and a connector with connecting wires for the rear light. The screws from the original taillight were reused when installing the new taillight. The stock taillight connector on my 2008 Sportster XL1200C was removed by pressing on the underside of the connector. Using the standard connector as a guide, I inserted the blue wire from the left, skipping the slot, then the red wire, and finally the black wire. I pressed the top of the connector to secure the wires. After plugging in all the plugs, I screwed the taillight on. The rear light and brake light functions worked as standard. They're about the same brightness as the stock units, so I've only given 4 stars. Other than that this light is very well made, it comes with everything you need for my 2008 Sportster, it looks great, doesn't stick out like the original, the smoke goes well with my black bike and it draws less amp than the original. It's a very good light and I'm happy with the purchase, I'm sure it meets the DOT specs for brightness which is good but the brighter on the bike the better. My biggest need was for looks and low power consumption, so I 100% recommend this taillight.
