I ordered this item 2x to connect a second monitor to my laptop for virtual learning. The first time the male end stopped connecting. It was clear that something in the wiring had become loose or bent and was no longer making a connection. While I wasn't particularly aggressive with my laptop, I assumed I kinked the cable when moving my laptop, so I replaced it with the same one. Now the replacement is broken too - this time the internal wires have come loose from the gold connector cover and the gold cover is stuck in my laptop's connector. It may work for other purposes, but I would not recommend this product for connecting to a laptop as the slightest movement of the laptop seems to drop the connection.
