Good but not for very thick smoothies

I've been looking for biodegradable straws for a long time. I started making my own smoothies and wanted to stop using silicone or metal straws. While they're better than plastic, they still take some time to decompose once someone gets rid of them. That's why I personally wanted to choose eco-friendly straw that naturally decomposes. So I ordered it to test. They come with a clear expiration date on the back of the box. They are not individually wrapped. My first thought was that the drinking hole is a bit thinner than I'm used to. I've used a few and can honestly say they don't look like weed at all. They get soft but the big problem I have is that they tear. They begin to come off the top of the straw, making it difficult to drink. This can only be my own problem because my smoothies are very thick. However, I still love these straws and will continue to use them.
