Out of the 1,000 screws in the box exactly 2 sheared off during assembly and that's probably because I let go of my 13 year old son with a cordless drill and he accidentally held it has to fiddle with the torque. installation, or because those two screws got caught in a branch in the wood. I pre-drilled 1.5" deep with a 1/8" drill bit, but these suction cups went in almost effortlessly, and since they're stainless steel, they should last longer than the deck.
