I used struts instead of struts on my 2012 GMC Terrain. At first glance, they had a slightly different diameter. The length is the same, this is normal. Once installed it was a lot harder to open but it holds the tailgate up which is the reverse of what happens with the jambs I'm replacing. The reason I'm replacing them is because they opened up well and just wouldn't stay on their feet. I had to get the OEM racks.
