The purple shawl in the picture is my version of the shawl and it turned out quite well. I'm a fairly experienced knitter, but even a novice knitter can complete the projects in this book. (Don't be fooled by reviews that criticize the clarity of the instructions. General guidelines for each project include charts with written instructions for the openwork pieces of each shawl, listed separately for knitters who don't use charts - but I encourage you to to learn how to use charts as they are by far the easiest way to knit these shawls or other openwork or braided knits). The only downside to this book is that the binding ripped slightly when I opened the book. I took it to a local copy shop and spiral bound it for a few bucks, the problem was solved and now every page is flat and easy to read. I liked 8 or more patterns from this book which makes it a great value.
