Review on πŸ“ Leica 838725 DISTO D2 New 330ft Laser Distance Measure with Bluetooth 4.0, Black/Red, Compact Design by Bryan Maignan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great little gauge but that's why I chose a different Disto model.

Considering the price and all the features the new Leica D2 has, this is a great little laser meter for most people. while you mostly measure inside. However, I mostly measure outdoors and since it doesn't measure reliably in broad daylight, after 2 days of testing at work I'm returning it to buy a Leica Disto X4. a few years and its laser dot was MUCH easier to see measured from the outside than D2 for two days trying to get it working for me. The D330i is also slightly larger than the D2 and the nominal width is 1/2 inch larger, in fact I find it much easier to hold in my large hand than this smaller D2. The Leica X4, which I went with instead, costs almost $500 (oops!) but is about the same size as the D330i, so it'll be a lot easier for me to stay still with the laser pointer in broad daylight Light like the D330i I've been using for 2 years. (I filmed a barn 40ft up in the sun with the D2 and although the distance was measured I couldn't see the point at all and I'm pretty sure I could see it with my old Disto D330i) . But the coolest thing about the X4 for those who mostly measure outdoors in broad daylight (surveyors, surveyors, etc.) is the built-in camera, which appears on the screen with a crosshair (like a scope) and you can even zoom in on the camera image, so you can aim the crosshairs at the exact point and press the laser button to measure back to that point even if you can't see the laser point with your own eyes.
