Review on High-performance TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless G USB Adapter TEW-424UB - Boost Your Wireless Connectivity by Wagner Witlin

I recommend taking a look at old computers with low RAM

I rarely write reviews, but given the difficulties I've had and the headache that someone in a similar situation to mine might have, I do I decided to add my two cents. To start off, I would like to throw out a general complaint about all major wireless USB network adapters, i.e. H. Linksys, D-Link, Belkin, Trendnet, Netgear, etc. None of them seem to want to specify system requirements other than the OS. For those of us trying to get older systems to work, this is a big problem. While some adapters may work for older systems, the version number of these adapters (which is missing from most if not all documentation) may not work. So if it says it supports older operating systems, make sure it supports the amount of RAM (if you're low on RAM). My problem is that I need the 2.0 version of this adapter which is shown on the page but whenever I ordered I got the 3.1R version. My old laptop only has 128MB of RAM and any version above 2.0 only seems to support 256MB of RAM or more. Revain needs to change the image or clarify which version you're getting. I'm sure Trendnet or any other mainstream adapter will work with the supported system. Again, this review is more of a critique of how the product is advertised than how it works.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
