Cheap, works but not very sensitive

I bought this about a month ago because the built in Wi-Fi adapter in my laptop keeps dropping out. TRENDnet installed on my Windows 7 32-bit machine without the need for the CD that came with it. It works every time. However, it's much less sensitive than the adapter in my laptop (when it's working). Right now, TRENDnet is connected to my Wi-Fi router, which is about 5 feet from my computer, but it can't even see my two neighbors' systems. The laptop adapter can see these two devices all the…

Works just great in networking products

After much trouble installing another Trendnet product, the Wireless G Router, I was perhaps doubly stupid to take another risk. Turns out, this wireless adapter was a blessing in disguise. Installation was very easy with the included software. Another reviewer mentioned using Windows to set it up. It just doesn't work. Once I determined that the included software was the best choice, everything went quickly and painlessly. Also, I've now found that this wireless adapter is even slightly faster

For $ it's ok - Computers and Accessories

Bought this as a spare for when I take my work laptop home or travel with it, everything seems fine. Doesn't pick up a signal like my personal laptop does, but it suffices as for me it will most likely plug into a USB1.1 port. encrypted network at home. I would think it's a driver issue that will hopefully be resolved. The USB extension cable is good but a few footers would be better and it has room for a strap. I had a spare so I could hook it up to my computer. for a slightly better…

Good adapter fits USB network adapters

This adapter works well for me. I bought it for my desktop PC (I wonder why manufacturers don't offer wireless internet access for PCs), plugged it in, read the manual that came with it (I received it in brand new packaging) and installed the driver. BUT I have noticed that the amber LED (on top of this adapter) is not blinking or solid so I have to call their support and they will help me install another driver which you can find on the manufacturer's website after you get yours selected…

Great hardware, bad software

I bought this because I needed to WiFi-enable an old desktop computer, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. For the most part it works very well as hardware and stays in touch. However, it's not perfect out of the box. Two suggestions that work great for me: 1. I installed it on a WinXP computer and found that I had to install the driver from the CD that came with this adapter because WinXP didn't recognize it automatically. However, the Trendnet WiFi utility that installs with it…

I recommend taking a look at old computers with low RAM

I rarely write reviews, but given the difficulties I've had and the headache that someone in a similar situation to mine might have, I do I decided to add my two cents. To start off, I would like to throw out a general complaint about all major wireless USB network adapters, i.e. H. Linksys, D-Link, Belkin, Trendnet, Netgear, etc. None of them seem to want to specify system requirements other than the OS. For those of us trying to get older systems to work, this is a big problem. While some…

Good but a bit difficult to set up WPA2

I bought the TEW424UB to upgrade to a stronger WPA2-PSK (aka WPA2-Personal) encryption. This device has replaced the WEP-64 D-Link adapter. It was tricky to set up, so remember my experience: don't try to upgrade your network to WPA2 right away. [If your network has already been upgraded to WPA2, it may automatically switch to "mixed" mode and accept a WEP or earlier WPA connection during installation, like my Linksys did.] First install the driver from the Trendnet software that comes with the

Cheap adapter. Poor performance

I bought this adapter (TEW-424UB Version 3) a few years ago when my relative wanted to stay with me for a while and use my internet. I reviewed Revain and at the time it was the cheapest wireless adapter they made (still today unless it's on sale). I should have spent $10 more and gotten a great adapter instead because 3-4 PCs later someone is still using this adapter to connect in my house and they are having the same issues. The signal doesn't pick up as well as other adapters or cards that…
