Bought this as a spare for when I take my work laptop home or travel with it, everything seems fine. Doesn't pick up a signal like my personal laptop does, but it suffices as for me it will most likely plug into a USB1.1 port. encrypted network at home. I would think it's a driver issue that will hopefully be resolved. The USB extension cable is good but a few footers would be better and it has room for a strap. I had a spare so I could hook it up to my computer. for a slightly better reception. If you buy it as a spare it should be great as it is very portable. I will keep the drivers on my flash drive so I can plug it in no matter what I use. 64/128/256 Wep and WPA capability is definitely a HUGE bonus at this price point. I don't think I'll be using it as my main connection due to reload issues, but it's hard to turn off as it's perfect for my needs.
