Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Netgear RP 114 Web-Safe 4-Port Cable/DSL Router by Chris Litton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If this router stopped working for you.

Several reviewers have written and said that after a period of time the router starts to randomly drop the internet connection. I also had the same thing, but I put it down to a DNS issue, not a connection issue. This means that the router (for whatever reason) loses the ability to read numeric Internet IP addresses (e.g. .117.106 (or any other IP address). If this works, you have a problem with the DNS. router configuration or in the TCP/IP network settings for each computer that is connected to the internet. I don't know why this problem occurs. But after entering the DNS settings manually, everything worked fine. I had no further problems with this one Router except the network connections are on the front of the unit and not the back (as others have commented) Check while trying to decide if this router is worth buying I wouldn't recommend anything from Netgear or Linksys to buy, if you read the reviews of pretty much any Netgear or Linksys router website on the subject, you'll see that most of them are terrible e Received reviews about reliability issues. Also, many people say that Netgear's customer support is terrible, and I can attest to that. I emailed them once and it took them weeks to reply. Instead, you might want to consider something like the Zyxel Prestige 324. It might cost a little more, but it's supposed to be a better product and safer too. I am planning to buy one to replace my Netgear PR114.

Pros
  • fingers crossed
Cons
