I bought these horizontal blocks to fill in the empty space AFTER I installed the vertical blocks. One would think that the embossing would be aligned between the horizontal and vertical blocks, but that is not the case. Horizontal blocks start with holes and vertical blocks start with slots. So you get an independent partition that is not aligned. In fact, there is no space between the vertical blocks, so you can't put a bracket between two sections. A slight adjustment to the layout would result in a more versatile system. Although I was disappointed with the layout, I like the strength of the material and the vertical slots. If I were to do it again I could just use Home Depot's standard punched metal plate and save some money and frustration.
