Review on FEL PRO VS 50422 Valve Gasket by David Finley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exact fit and fit

Gaskets are either 0 stars (not working) or 5 stars (working well). If it doesn't work well, it doesn't work at all. Looks like she's a little bit pregnant. But I digress. Gasket material appears to be identical to OEM. Dimensions are 100% identical to OEM for gaskets and grommets. Using this kit will help you learn some installation tricks as it doesn't come with clear instructions. This particular gasket doesn't use sealant spray to attach it to the valve cover (IIRC, it's listed on the box) before final installation, but of course uses RTV to properly seal the critical points. To apply RTV you must refer to the service manual - this is not listed for this product. Installing grommets can be tricky unless you get information from someone who has already done so. In the 3.4L valve cover, you have to bend the metal tab to remove the old bushings and install new ones. Installation tip for grommets (and most o-rings): place in the freezer briefly before inserting into the holes in the valve cover (I did this in the freezer at -20°F for about 30 minutes; then I rubbed the outside rim sleeve with a rag soaked in WD-40 and quickly and carefully insert the sleeve into the hole). Removing and removing all 6 grommets can be done in under 10 minutes by following these instructions and with some basic ring and gasket tightening experience (I used a screwdriver to pull my old gaskets out instead of a gasket puller, but I'm a bit spontaneous as it is sometimes). The price for this is low enough than the retail price (especially since all 6 gaskets are included) to say it's a must have.
