Review on 🎧 FARO G2-PNR Premium Pilot Aviation Headset with Mp3 Input - Black by Andrew Gomez

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Decent comfortable passive headset but the mic is REALLY weak

If there were three and a half stars it would probably be tighter. First, they're comfortable, easy to set up, the cord is long enough, the volume controls for each ear work well with no squeaks, and the speakers are clear enough for a comfortable conversation. There are two things I don't like about them; One is just a criticism and the other is something that definitely leaves room for improvement. First a complaint. They block enough noise but aren't as quiet as I expected. After an hour and a half in the air, your ears get a little tired from the constant background noise, which is better not dampened. This is partly because they don't have active noise cancellation. but the passive noise cancellation could be better. I would have preferred if they were a bit bigger and had better noise cancellation. Now for something that definitely needs improvement. The microphone could be a bit more sensitive. I usually have to squelch the communications system so that there is some sort of background hum in order for the mic to pick up, otherwise I have to raise my voice a little to keep the conversation clear, and that's with the mic in my mouth. . The boom for the microphone is also short. It should be about an inch or so longer. Anyway it's stretched as much as possible to get where it needs to be and no, I don't have a giant melon. I am of average height and weight. There are no problems with comfort. I usually wear them with a baseball cap and have no problems. The ear pads fit well around my ears. With a few tweaks this could be a beginner's headset as they are good for the price but with a few tweaks they could be a lot better. When I finish my flight training I will definitely look for an upgrade and keep it for passenger use. Update: I got more and more frustrated and switched to two stars. I didn't know any better when I started my training, but I didn't know any other headset, including the very cheap ones I've tried on several airplanes with different communication and radio systems, doesn't have the constant disconnect problem due to a hopeless microphone weakness. Signal. It's frustrating to constantly fiddle with the noise-cancellation to get it to stop shutting down because the signal is so weak. I will keep them for a spare passenger kit but I would never recommend them. This is a disappointment that can be forgone if they didn't fix the issue. I have an inexpensive Kore kit that works just as well as these, except it doesn't have as good passive noise cancellation. If you are looking for a good entry-level headset, I would recommend the Kore set. because the signal is so weak. I will keep them for a spare passenger kit but I would never recommend them.
