Review on Xerox Duplex Travel Scanner 100N03205 by David Edwards

Fantastic black and white travel scanner - had some issues with color scanning

I really like this Xerox travel scanner (made by Visoneer) so we will probably buy some of these scanners for my office once we transition to a paperless environment. I really wanted to love it, but I'll get to that in a moment. I compared it with Brother RDS-720D and Epson DS-40. Brother was second only to Xerox, but Brother didn't (or couldn't) have the ability to automatically scan just by feeding in a sheet of paper. With Brother, you always had to press the scan button on the computer. The Xerox, on the other hand, scans automatically as soon as you insert a sheet of paper. It seems insignificant, but it was enough to tell them apart in everyday life. I also liked the software that came with Xerox more than the other two. The Epson also lacked automatic scanning, was heavier and generally felt bulkier and less polished compared to the Xerox & Brother. Here's the only downside and reason for lowering the star. I noticed a magenta cast when scanning white documents in color with all three scanners. The software's automatic color recognition was also far from perfect. For example, when scanning a letter with colored letterhead, the color of the letterhead was not recognized. This problem occurred with all three scanners. These two issues were the reason I researched other Xerox options but ultimately decided Xerox was the best as they all suffered from the same issues to varying degrees. Xerox scans excellently in black and white. Color recognition and color accuracy leave a lot to be desired.
