Review on Klein Tools K12035 Klein-Kurve Heavy Duty Wire Cutters and Wire Stripping Tool by David Merculief

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A few additions make this 5-star

First, the ends of the pliers don't touch, leaving a small gap. Second, I knew this when I bought it so it's my fault, but the lack of a locking mechanism is very annoying. The hole advertised as a wire loop hole is a lie, that's where the lock was originally and has just been removed (probably due to complaints about the locking lever). Third, the spring is weak and noisy and only half opens the tool and I still have to use some force to open it all the way, negating the presence of the spring. The forging is poor quality and uneven, and there are many sharp metal burrs on the tool that need trimming. I am not satisfied with this tool and will come back for a refund. I've been looking for the tool of my life and this isn't it. Made in the USA doesn't always mean quality today, and this is one example. Some controlled brands focus on making a quality product because they need to break the stigma of outsourcing. The result can be a better product with improved design, more usability, and higher quality.
