Review on 🚲 XOSS Bike Cadence and Speed Sensor: Wireless ANT+ Bluetooth 4.0 Speedometer & Cycle Computer by Travis Filippi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well enough for my purpose.

EDIT: Postponing this for a year or so because I wanted to use an old ANT speed sensor. Last week I switched my Zwift setup to Apple TV. ATV does not use ANT. Put a new battery in there. ZWIFT picked it up immediately. No problem. I picked this up for use with my new smart trainer, the Wahoo Kickr Snap, which strangely doesn't report cadence to Zwift. I had an old Garmin speed/cadence sensor connected, but only ANT+. Worked well but for the price I bought this XOSS to keep all the BT so the Zwift Companion iOS app can run the show. I spent a little time setting it up, assuming the light would flash constantly to indicate the mode when the battery was installed. Blinking just once, it's hard to miss with hand covering face. Anyway, after I figured it out, it was an EZ crankset. Tested on the Wahoo app with weekly calibration. The application found it with no problems. Launched Zwift on my computer. Zwift found the device with no issues (more like an iOS companion app). Drive along the Watopia track. I felt like the quoted cadence was about 5 RPM higher than what I was sensing with the old sensor. Maybe I'll count my speed next time, but for my purposes it's enough for now. NOTE: For those who have given negative feedback because you expect it to show up in your iOS BT device list, it doesn't. It only works with applications that support this BT variant.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
