Review on Easy Application Iron-On White Melamine Edge Banding - 25 Ft Roll for Cabinet Repairs & Furniture Restoration by Carlos Nolan

Uses this on the raw ends of Blue Hawk (Lowes) white melamine shelves. The color is a bit closer to white off the board, but I can't tell for sure once the shelf is in place. Came with no instructions which should be pretty obvious but I was concerned about the sticking and followed the reviews to press firmly when ironing. Initially, heavy pressure was used when ironing just below the maximum setting, causing the glue to flow out the sides of the strip that was wrapped around the entire iron. I had to pause use, let the iron cool down to clean and then start using again so that was a problem, also it was a bit difficult to remove from the iron without damaging its finish. Realizing this, I put an old t-shirt between the board and the iron and turned on the heat. This worked great as the glue ended up on the fabric instead. Be sure to move the fabric each time so the glue doesn't get on the board. You still have to be careful not to press too hard as too much glue will come out at one point and the end will come out without sticking. No problem as I took the extra cut end, heated it up and applied glue to the loose area. If the strip slips off during application, simply apply some heat to smooth it out. All in all a great product, I just wish I had more understanding before using it. Lessons learned for next time.
