Review on 🌑️ Inkbird ITC1000 Dual Stage Digital Temperature Control Thermostat- Heating Cooling Relay with ℃ ℉ Display for 3D Printer, Freezer, Fridge, Hatching and More (110V) by John Finley

Used this in place of my old fridge's thermostat

I used this after the thermostat for our old side by side fridge failed. (I replaced it about 3 years later with one from the Revain market that was about $26.) The one at the appliance parts store was about $65. So I bought a 4x4 PVC junction box at a local H.Depot store and installed it on top of the fridge where the old thermostat was. I drilled 2 holes in the bottom of the box and in the top of the fridge. One for power and one for temperature sensor. I inserted plastic tubing into the holes to protect the wire from the metal of the fridge. (I put some household paint on the bare metal first.) I used one of the 40A solid state relays I already had from Revain. I installed it in place of the old thermostat (which was on top of the front of the fridge). I used a 2 wire extension at the back of the PVC box to get 120 volts AC. I tried picking it up from the front control panel where the old thermostat was but couldn't find a 120vdc power supply to connect to. Connect the relay side of the 40A SS relay to the terminals on the old thermostat. (I added spade connections to the relay so I didn't have to change the old connections.) I played around with the location of the temp sensor in the fridge a bit. I ended up using square nylon wire tie mounts and placed the probe about halfway down the back of the fridge. I've been playing around with the settings in this controller set to 35Β°F and a range of 5Β° (so the cooling turns on at 40 and off at 35). I set the delay to 10 minutes to give the refrigerant enough time to equalize before the compressor restarts. It's been working flawlessly for a few months now. (Note: I started with a cut-off temperature set at 33Β°C, but some things have frozen near the freezer vents. Adjust some. (I have an indoor/outdoor digital thermometer in the freezer.)
