This part is far superior to the original Liberty regulator. On my Liberty, as on many others, the metal coil connecting the plastic glass clip broke, rendering the window inoperable. It doesn't take a materials scientist to figure out that if steel is exposed to thin plastic for several years, like an OEM spool on a plastic clip does, the plastic eventually won't hold. This new design is still metal on plastic, but instead of a spiral design that connects to thin strands of plastic, it securely attaches a traditional steel cable to a clamp. I don't remember exactly how they are attached, maybe with rivets? - but I remember looking and thinking it's far less likely to break than the OEM. Anyway, I installed it a few months ago and it's been working great ever since. The fit was as expected and installation was easy - with a little help from YouTube and/or some experience it should be very easy. Others have mentioned having to trim the small rubber stops to fit. I didn't have to do this, and I don't recommend it unless you absolutely have to. A snug fit helps keep the glass in the correct position as it moves up and down the track, and any looseness in the fit can cause the glass to get stuck in the rubber channel when trying to lift. This is a fairly common problem with Liberty ESCs that have been previously repaired, especially OEM parts, so they tend to break over and over again. Dorman's redesign of the cable and clamp connection should prevent it from breaking in this scenario anyway, but the engineer in me doesn't want to stress it in the first place. Another installation issue I noticed is that you have to use the screws that came with the regulator, not the original screws that came with your car. The original bolts, while looking heavier than the ones that came with the adjuster, have a bolt head profile that is too high, causing the clip to hang off the bottom of the rail. This stops the window about an inch and a half from the bottom of the window frame, which is just annoying if you put your elbow on the window sill with the window open. Perhaps the screws supplied with the regulator are not heavy duty hardened steel like the original screws, but they are strong enough to hold the regulator rail in place as intended. I have no doubts about their effectiveness or durability. I've always had problems with my Liberty's two front windows. It took the passenger side window to fully shatter to expend the time, money and effort to replace one of these, but now that it's working as it always should I'm making plans to replace my most functional driver's side window with a Dorman regulator . Also. In my opinion, this is a pretty high rating.
