Review on 🏎️ High-Performance MOOG K80223 Ball Joint for Precision Handling by Erik Snyder

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits like a glove! Solid and well made

Yes, I would look to Moog before anyone else. Bargain given the cost of a brand new factory spindle assembly (the thing that holds the wheel bearing/hub and bolts to the lower brace (shock)). In this app (CR-V 2nd generation) read the barely legible orientation mark/lettering cast on a dark/black dust boot ("inside" means side facing the engine) and "simple" the Squeeze out the factory connector and use something like the beefy C-clamp that comes with the adapters (and you'll need additional adapters). Almost to the end of the thread. I do not advise hammering this thing. Hit the grease cap or worse, bend that part of the spindle (alignment gets really bad nym). n-car (after it has been removed to allow the CV spline to disengage from the spindle) you will need to lift the car high enough to release the C-clip in its fully open state. Don't worry when unpacking the box - this app doesn't include/require a grease fitting as there isn't room for one (the end of the CV axle gets in the way). And it doesn't need a large snap ring retainer to hold the push end because the forces/weight of the lower ball joint are pushed against the spindle. prefers to hold it (just don't skip boulders against the lower arm. but then you have other bigger problems). This option is common, so for tradition's sake try installing this cotter pin's retainer by doing a fancier buckling thing (i.e. follow the outline of the nut at the top/on the lock).

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
