OnGuard is top notch. the best in cycling

I have had an OnGuard Pitbull mini bike for many years and it still works great. However, buying a new bike required a lock change. With a little more room between the front wheel and a much larger down tube on my new bike, I needed something with a little more reach. There isn't much between the various mini castles and their larger counterparts. Often the next size up is a bulky padlock that is almost twice as long and heavy or much wider than a mini U-lock. On suburban trips I wear a backpack with a lap/chest strap. And while the backpack has a nice sized side pocket perfect for a padlock, it's not very accessible unless the pocket is removed. And more often than not, placing a lock, even a mini, in a side pocket will result in the bag becoming very unbalanced during a trip. I usually make a few stops every day on my way to work. As such, I prefer to just carry the lock in my back pocket for a more balanced ride and easier access. OnGuard Pitbull Medium is perfect for that! It's exactly the same width as my old Pitbull Mini with plenty of extra reach, enhanced by the squarer shape at the lock end. It fits perfectly in my pocket. And while it looks chunky and heavy, it weighs about the same as my old Mini. If I have any complaints about this lock, it's that he's a bit temperamental when trying to jam the lock. There's not much tolerance or wiggle room when trying to block it, and you can struggle with it initially. But after several trips with him there were no problems. And for those attaching their lock to a bike, the snug fit is great as it reduces the rattling common with most U-locks.
