Review on EVGA Capture Certified Through 141 U1 CB20 LR by Josel Lambert

Revainrating 2 out of 5

For 100€ I expect more.

So I'm streaming on Twitch. I have used a PC for many years. I recently wanted to try to improve the quality of my streams and redesigned a lot of my gear to achieve my goal. I also wanted to super offload my rtx 2070 to make my games run smoother with higher FPS when streaming, so I installed a second PC and went in search of a not too expensive but reliable namegrabber card. That's when I came across the EVGA XR1. At first glance, this is an amazing offering: 4k passthrough, 1080p60fps recording, Obs-certified plug-and-go setup, and I'm all for plug-and-go simplicity. I received this item in the mail and installed it. I lit it up and started playing with it and set up all my stuff to use it the same night it arrived. And then I noticed this weird outline on everything that showed up on the capture map. I started making advanced settings in Obs to test different video formats, color spaces and color ranges. To no avail, some of these options made things even worse. I then used a setting in obs for cameras/capture devices to disable and re-enable the capture card, effectively turning it off and on again. Something helped, but the outline is still there. I'm not sure if this is because the product is defective or damaged or what this issue is related to. I contacted EVGA to inquire about this. I've attached the same image and video here that I sent to evga to show the problem and see what can be done. I would say this item is a bargain at this price but with the issues I am having with it and the lack of information about this item other than a few reviewers talking about it on YouTube I can't even think of it , I recommend everyone to buy this product. I will update this review if EVGA contacts me and I know if I have a defective item or if it's just how this card works. See what I was talking about but it was clear on screen that the second email to them was circling the issue in question that the item was invalid and an artifact, they were processing my RMA for a new unit. I will update the review again when there is a new one.
