RTV silicone can ruin your engine. Your engine has a vacuum of -5psi for the brake booster to work. If you apply silicone to the valve cover gasket, even the silicone fumes can damage the engine. It WILL be absorbed. You have to rely on the seal. However, to install you will need to put a gasket on the aluminum head to keep it from moving when you turn it over to throw it in. If it's slightly out of gravity, it will pinch or fold and leak. So just use the 3M Gasket Adhesive in multiple places, liberally on each ring, on all edges where you want it to pop out easily. Wait an hour to dry and install. It won't harm your engine and gets the job done. When you have 200k miles buy 2 new long bolts as you can easily break them as they get very hot and brittle. Center bolt 2AZ-FE - M6x65 mm. Exit bolt - M6x40 mm. I also broke one of these so don't worry if you do that too, they'll come out easily when you take them off again lol. 1200 miles on the road, no leaks, super happy. The gasket I removed was the same blue and had no cracks but was leaking somehow, all the bolts were tight. Find out, now it doesn't flow!
