I have used a Kenmore canister vacuum for over 20 years. I had my first (refurbished) which lasted 10 years. Then my second in 10 years as a cleaner (cleaned a lot of houses) and finally just bought a third. I switched to this model because I really like the ability to detach the carpet anchor with your foot and walk straight onto the hardwood floor without having to attach the anchor to the floor. As a Kenmore canister user I was a bit skeptical about opening it because first I noticed that this floor mount is very different from all their other models and I love their floor so much! But so far so good! It seems to perform just as well, if not better than the older models. My undeniable reason for choosing this vacuum cleaner is that as a vacuum cleaner I have vacuumed many homes and for me the electric pet head is a must have that I cannot live without and that no other vacuum cleaner on the market has. This is (for me) the only way to clean carpeted stairs or stairs with rugs or furniture (under cushions I think!), especially if you have pets. A conventional suction nozzle is not suitable for this! You need motorized power. My only complaint would be that I'm disappointed with the thin cover. It's a thinner plastic than previous models and doesn't look like it'll hold up to heavy use. However, since the floor mount is already secured with the simple step release button, this might not be a heavy-duty feature. The other downside is that the rug attachment height is a bit higher than previous models and doesn't quite as easily fit under my sofa as the others. They still have a full rotation so you can flatten your vacuum pretty much if you rotate the handle down, but the part the hose connects to is larger or sticks out further so I'm looking around in a certain direction rotate and move a little slower than I could with other models. I should add that I first ordered a plush rug (the latest model before it) because I wanted this one, but it was sold out and had no return date, and I needed it! He slipped easily under my sofa! But the cord was a foot or two shorter and didn't reach my tailgate like previous models and like this one, so I'm glad to have a longer cord again. Overall, no one can beat the suction or motor performance of a Kenmore canister, and the pet-powered nozzle is a key factor that no one else has, so this vacuum is definitely worth the money if you're looking for a quality product. I only wish Kenmore hadn't cut off the corners of the case (thin plastic) as they were. Not sure why if it makes vacuuming easier? But overall I'm very happy with my new (and beautiful!) vacuum cleaner and expect it to last a good 10-20 years!
