Review on Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED: Superior Wide-Angle Prime Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Henry Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's great on the d810.

This lens is as good as everyone says. I shoot quite a bit of cityscapes at hyperfocal distances with the d810. The D810 places really high demands on lenses. Any flaws become pretty obvious because it has such a high resolution. This lens at f8 is sharp at all angles. I didn't notice any curvature of the field in the field (I don't do lab tests). That means I can take a shot and that's it. In most cases, focus stacking is not required. It is very nice. I enjoy reading most of Ken Rockwell's comments, but I disagree with him on the 16-35mm f4 VR. I tried it and this lens at the same time. This lens is a little better in every way. The 16-35mm f4 VR had some field curvature in the corners, which meant I had to refocus with every shot if I wanted sharp corners. This is real pain. I found I just liked how this lens rendered a little bit better. I returned my 16-35mm f4 VR, kept that lens and bought another 35mm f1.4g. Great combo.
