Review on πŸšͺ ROK Hardware Brass Magnetic Door Stopper, 3 Inches - ROKMDS1B by Darlene Thomas

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Care must be taken when installing

I have ordered this style of doorstop (similar design from other suppliers) and have always loved how practical they are. I recently ordered two of these Rok doorstops. The 3 inch section is in two parts - a molded arm that holds the magnet and a flat disc that has a threaded bolt attached. The pin is riveted to the disc, so to speak. When I installed one of my doorstops, I screwed a 3" lever onto a threaded bolt to hold it firmly against the door and the bolt just popped out of the disc. Unfortunately, the 30-day return period expired, so I had to buy another doorstop. I only hand tightened the lever moderately so I either received a defective item or these new doorstops were not made like the previous doorstops. (Update) The second doorstop was fine so the first one was just broken. But I read a few other reviews with the same problem (hairpin breakage) so it seems to happen sometimes. I got a replacement from Home Depot, which sells two different brands. I went with the Everbilt brand which uses a different bolt and nut design instead of a threaded bolt so it doesn't break the same way. It also has a stronger magnet but offers fewer surfaces. The Richelieu brand seems to have the same design as this Rok design. And that's a lot more research than it takes to buy a doorstop.
