They are very soft and lightweight so your little prince won't complain of any uncomfortable chafing or lumps. In terms of fit, we found the medium size to be perfect for our 8-year-old tester - not too tight, not too loose, and the waistband stays in place without pinching. The only reason we didn't give these shorts. The perfect 5 stars is that the fabric feels a little flimsy and we're not sure how long they will hold up under heavy use.
