I wanted the lock to "pull up" but the lock will not engage in that orientation when fully open. The handrail flexes just enough to disengage the lock when weight is applied to it. It is therefore quite possible that the 3rd rail slips completely out of the 2nd rail. There is a safety issue with assembling this way with any weight. These rails would be fine with <50#, but 90# is too much. Rotating the rails to "unlock" by pushing down seemed to help. Also check the bearings. My first set was missing about 5 bearings on one of the rails? The second set went well.
