I bought a pair of these hinges to raise the top (32" x 20") of a bench that I use to service my guitar. They installed fairly easily. Some people complain that no screws are included. But they won't necessarily know what screw length you need. So I didn't see any downside. If you have access to the underside where the hinges go, installation is easy. Simply place them (in a compressed configuration) where they will stand, mark the screw holes and screw in. The hinges slide out easily and are quite stable when extended. If desired, they can be fixed in the upper position. Pushing them down requires more force than lifting them up, but it depends on how heavy the slab is. It's been a week and I'm very happy with them.
