The label says lead free directly, but turn the label over and you'll see a WARNING: This product may expose you to one or more known chemicals, including lead, State of California to fight cancer, cause birth defects or reproductive harm. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the "lead-free" claim. My only guess is that the laws governing whether something can be labeled "lead-free" are more lenient than the laws requiring a P65 warning. Also, the P65 warning wasn't in the Revain description, which really annoys me. . Now I'm stuck on this item that I can't return because we really need it for our shower. I'll probably look for another fitting to replace later. There are many brands that do not have P65 warnings.
