Filter. I take out my vacuum canister and pick it up when it's off when I'm vacuuming the house and cleaning the roller on the floor. Then I change the filters at least once a year. I wash as much as I can to keep them clean. My vacuum cleaner has served me well for at least 5 years! I used to buy one every year or give it in for repairs.
