Review on Shure SRH440 Professional Studio Headphones by Betty Tucker

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Less than a year later, two different sets of headphones broke down

My first Shure SRH440 came with our high quality electronic keyboard that we bought. They lasted about 9 months before the piece of plastic holding the earbuds attached to the hat (or whatever) broke. In other words, the headphones hung from a small wire. Okay, we're unlucky. So we ordered a new one from Revain. After less than 3 months, the earplugs came loose again. See photo. The headphones sit comfortably on the head and ears. The sound quality is good, the noise cancellation is also good. But they simply break under reasonable conditions of use. Granted, teenagers (girls) use them too, but they 100% stay parked next to our computer and I didn't feel our use case was extreme. Yes, the kids have dropped them off the table on occasion, and they've probably fallen on the floor a few times, but for $90 I don't feel they're very durable. Otherwise these are good headphones. If you're using them in a studio or quiet environment and totally spoiling them, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just disappointed in their durability. I ordered a Sennheiser HD280PRO and the build quality of the earphone seems to be much better. I haven't owned them long enough to say they're better, but looking at the ear cup I don't think my next problem will be that. No fault of seller or Revain. I never bother with reviews but just wanted to point out this issue. UPDATE 11/29/2017: The Sennheiser HD280PRO are still great and haven't broken yet. Definitely recommend buying these instead of the Shure SRH440.
