Let me start by saying that I use Powerpoint A LOT. I have experience with several different presentation remotes and for the most part have had no problems with them, but most of the ones I've used have been plain and non-functional. This Targus product is easy to use and packed with useful features for both novice and experienced speakers. The USB IR receiver fits snugly into the battery compartment which houses two batteries. The device requires one AAA to operate, so the other is a backup if the main line goes out during a presentation! The buttons are well placed so I don't accidentally press the wrong ones, and there's a lock button for added security. Next to the lock button is a power button that needs to be pressed for about 3 seconds before the device turns off. It has a blackout button, a slideshow start/end button, and a switch to switch between presentation mode and computer mode (to use the mouse, adjust the volume, etc.). Sure, it doesn't have all the fancy stuff like clocks, vibrators (blah blah blah) that $100+ remotes have, but I don't need it anyway. My only issue with the device seems to be the design. I gave it 4 stars because while the keys are textured to my liking, the build quality feels below average. The spring on the negative end of the battery is bent, so the battery will not fit properly unless forced, which can be a problem later. Also, I'm not sure how it will withstand a fall. I'm not in the habit of dropping things (I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I've dropped my phone in the last 3 years) so I don't have any experiences to share yet. Overall this is a great product that I would recommend to anyone who needs a presentation remote.
